the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person - having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. ~

This second long exposure of my series "Summer's just around the Corner" was taken on the shore of Lake Thun in Interlaken (Neuhaus) in the public Lido.
Water level is pretty low in winter.
The tone of the pic comes from the 10 stop B+W 110 ND filter...didn't want to change it.

Blog I
One morning I decided to take a trip to the National History Museum in London and I wanted to take this shot from the top of the Stairs.
It was taken first thing in the morning when the Museum opened at 10.00 so there were not many people there so i was able to get a shot with not many people around. I love how the light was coming through the windows and it made the picture hard to expose but i think it makes the image more interesting.
As i was leaving there were many groups of school children entering the Museum so I was glad that I was able to get the shot before it got too busy.

Two reflective umbrellas coming 45 degrees from behind the model, one at 1/8 and one at 1/16, a shoot through umbrella dangling overhead from the top and another reflective umbrella coming from camera left at about 60ish degrees. I believe we had the flash switched off in that one, so we were basically only using it as a reflector to kick back some light from the back flashes into her eyes to spark them a tad bit. We had been using the mini beauty dish before, but since our last victim, uhmmm, model, was this pretty lady we opted for the umbrella from above to make everything nice and soft.
This photo is part of my office door series, where I photograph a group of work colleagues in front of a blueish office door using only small flash.

This filter always gives me very saturated and magenta images, while it is supposed to be neutral. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, a bit too saturated for me here! What do you think?

Bristol celebrated the Year of the Dragon by putting on a spectacular Lion Dance at M-Shed. The children were told that the lions were veggies...but I remember Albert. It was good luck when the lions sprayed us with water....even on the M9?

I just got back from spending my birthday in Vegas. I usually go to Vegas three or four times a year, but I've never taken the time for photography. I decided this would be the trip that I would finally go out and take a few photos. This is from the top of the Eiffel Tower, it is a 3ex (-2/0/+2) HDR tone mapped using Photomatix. They don't allow tripods so this was semi-hand held through a camera hole in the fence surrounding the observation deck.

The problem with headstones in a coastal cemetery is erosion by the weather and sea spray. This headstone has had it's inscription removed so I was unable to tell whose grave it was marking. I guess someone will know
