Hi, my name is Dennis, and I'm a bookaholic. (Hi, Dennis!)
I almost always have a big stack of books to be read hanging around the house, and the size of the pile never seems to stop me from adding to it. I realized just how deep the queue had gotten when I found some books tucked in the corner of my office that I had completely forgotten about.
I figured the pile (and this is just about everything in my to-read heap, at home anyway) would make a good shot. I figured that shooting it from a low PoV, to emphasize the height, would be a good way to approach it, but it turned out to be trickier than I had hoped to get the angle I wanted. First off, my tripod didn't go low enough, so I had to shoot hand-held. Used manual controls on the camera all around (which translates here to 1/8s @ f/5.6 ISO280), lit from the right by a worklight and diffuser panel with a white bounce on the left. I didn't have any way to mask the light colored ceiling in the room, so I spent some time burning the background in Aperture to get the image where I wanted it (although I'm still not completely happy with it.)
