The last few weeks were all about clearing the backlog of images from last year's photo trips. As I scoured through the images, I was pleasantly surprised by what had missed my attention the first time around.
This photo was made at the Vermillion Winderness area last fall. I'd spent the day scouting the area and was drawn by the landscape's near Martian appearance. Overnight rains formed a bed of water that served as a reflection pool. However, grey & overcast skies were threatening to play spoil sport for photographing this location. Just as I was giving up hope, the storm cleared right at sunset, accentuating the whole area's red hues.
