The British Museum, in London, United Kingdom, is vastly regarded to be one of the world's greatest museums of human history and culture. Its eternal collection, containing roughly eight million works, is amongst the broadest and most comprehensive in existence and originates from all continents.
The British Museum was constructed in 1753, widely based on the collections of the physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloane. The museum first opened its doors to the public on 15 January 1759.
